Prof.Guowang Xu

Prof. Dr. Guowang Xu graduated from department of chemical engineering of Zhejiang institute of engineering, China. In Sept., 1984 he became a graduate student in chromatography department of Dalian institute of chemical physics (DICP), Chinese Academy of Sciences, earned his Ph.D. degree in Jun., 1991. Subsequently, he joined the National chromatographic R. & A. center in DICP and was one head of the chromatographic groups since 1992 and an associate Professor since Jun.,1994. From Oct., 1995 to Sept.,1997, Prof. Xu was working at the Universitaet Medizinische Klinik in Tuebingen, Germany under a fellowship from Max-Planck-Institute. In Nov., 1997 he was promoted to professor and since May, 1999 a Ph.D. advisor at DICP. In 2004 he obtained the foundation for distinguished young scientists from National Natural Science Foundation of China. Since 2005 He has been the director of the metabonomics research center, the deputy director (2008-2016) and director (since 2017) of CAS Key Laboratory of Separation Sciencefor Analytical Chemistry, and since 2016 the administrative vice-director of biotechnology division in DICP.

He is the president of Chromatography Committee of Chinese Society of Chemistry, trustee of the Chinese Society of Chemistry and deputy-president of the Tumor Metabolism Committee of Chinese Society of Anticancer, member of permanent scientific committee of HPLC conference since 2007. He was an editor of J. Chromatgor. B (2007-2014), and is also a contributing editor of TrAC and members of the editorial board of more than 10 journals including Anal. Chem.(2021-2022), Anal. Chim. Acta,J. Proteome Res., Metabolites,Metabolomics,Anal. Bioanal. Chem.,J. Chromatogr. B,J. Sep. Sci., JOAT, Bull Korean Chem. Soc., etc.He was the co-Chairman of 30th ISCC in Dalian, China, 33rd HPLC in Kyoto, Japan and 37th HPLC in Dalian, China.

Prof. Xu has co-written 5 books and published more than 520 peer-reviewed papers in the ‘Web of Science Core Collection’ (WoS) indexed journals including PNAS, Nature Protocols, Nature Communications, Hepatology, Clin. Chem., Cancer Res., Advanced Science, Diabetes Care, Anal. Chem., TrAC, J. Chromatogr. A, J. Proteome Res. and Nature Methods (WoS H-index = 73, Google H-index =91) and more than 90 China patents were authorized.

He has also received several awards including the second prize of national science and technology progress (2011), the second prize of Liaoning province science and technology invention (2011) and the grand prize of Science and Technology of China Association of Instrument Analysis (CAIA) (2020) etc.

His main research field is in the chromatography-related research and the metabolomics/exposomics applications in disease biomarker discovery, traditional Chinese medicines and food safety.
